50 plus
What ever your age it is important to have sufficient exercise in your day to day life. As people grow older they feel that they should slow down and relax. To a certain point that is true i am not saying that you should be running a marathon but you could, with my help. But when people reach a certain age they increase the need for exercise. Exercise for the over 50’s has a great impact on health enabling individuals to lead an independent and active lifestyle. Whilst we cannot stop the body ageing, Personal Training can delay or prevent some physiological adaptations which are associated to the mature adult and simultaneously promote the significant health benefits to gain from the specialized and tailored program. Within our exercise programs we cover the key areas wich affect you in your every day life. We do this by using different functional exercises to improve mobility, flexibility, strength, balance etc... The key areas which are often affected through age are briefly covered below: - Cardiovascular fitness (how well your heart works) - With age the heart decreases in its efficiency usually between 20 and 30% this puts your body at risk of heart diseases high blood pressure and high cholesterol. With exercise you can reduce all these symptoms dramatically and improve your life.
- Body fat and related diseases - The fact of it is that obesity is a sweeping epidemic in the world and this affects every one. One in five people are clinically obese in the uk. Due to this their is a massive increase in type 2 diabetes the chancesof getting this disease can be dramatically decreased by exercise. Other diseases that can be reduced are heart disease, strokes, angina and hypertension.
- Muscle - As people age they lose muscle fibres which means a decrease in strength and stability. The only way to combat this is to do certain excercises to counteract this. With our help you can combat this and lead a more stable life doing what youve always done and even be stronger than you were when you were 20.
- Bones - There is a reduction in bone density as we get older this leaves us prone to injury. Women are particularly suseptibal to this as the loss of oestrogen in the body after post-menopausal stages. Another symptom of this is the deteriation of joints this is more commonly seen in the over 55’s. It is usually due to bad posture and inactivity.
